Jean Burford Managing Director of Walthamstow Employment and Nursing Agency
December 2007

Jean Burford has devoted her life to caring for people.  A qualified nurse, she used the knowledge she gained from her years in the NHS to set up Walthamstow Employment and Nursing Agency (WENA) 26 years ago.  WENA’s aim is to enhance the quality of life of people in need.  Jean says: “I could see there was an urgent need for a care agency that reflects the cosmopolitan nature of Walthamstow.  When you’re looking after people, clear communication is essential -  you have to be able to understand their needs and address them.”  Jean goes on to explain that, not only areWENA’s employees trained, experienced professionals, but they are also multi-lingual and come from a variety of cultural backgrounds.  In addition to this, WENA’s literature is available in a range of languages.

As well as caring for her clients, Jean looks after her staff.  All carers are offered excellent rates of pay including holiday pay, flexible hours, free monthly health checks, training courses and regular meetings with their team leader.  WENA also has a club for retired staff providing support and opportunities to take part in social events.

WENA offers clients tailor-made services including:

    care plan to suit all

      needs

    general support

    personal care

    cooking

    housework
