 | | | Formerly the somewhat shabby‘ Rose and Crown’, the pub and the area have been offered a new lease of life by a group of enthusiastic locals. The team are in the process of refurbishing and developing the large Victorian building into an exciting public house, theatre and arts centre. The new managers have already made a dramatic improvement to the downstairs bar area which is now light and fresh and inviting. They expect the work on the upstairs performance area (which will also have its own bar) to be completed in the near future.
Meanwhile, there are a wide range of events taking place including: E17 Jazz; Quiz Nights; Live Theatre; Comedy Nights; Open Mic Nights, Cabaret
Evenings and film screenings (courtesy of the Walthamstow Film Café). The
majestic grand piano is not just for show either – Aaron Clingham, on of the new bosses, gives regular recitals.
Ye Olde Rose and Crown Theatre Pub has its roots firmly planted in the
community. Refreshingly, the managers actively encourage families and are
planning a special area for children.
Parents and children are welcome
between 10am and 12pm for coffee and pastries in the spacious bar which has ample room for buggies and for children to play in safety. Soon, the pub will also be serving hot food. Pop in – you’ll be amazed at the change!
Full details of all events can be found at www.yeolderoseandcrowntheatrepub.co.uk. These are also posted in the pub
