 | | | When it comes to saving the planet, one of the best places to start is your own back garden. Gardens built on organic principles can be attractive and productive whilst encouraging wildlife and recycling waste - and all without the need for harmful chemicals.
These ideas lie at the heart of Iris Blue, a local gardening company set up by Cinzia Farfan. She firmly believes that itfs better to work with nature than against it and, in the seven years since she started, shefs found that more and more people are thinking the same way. Cinzia says: gIris Blue began as a labour of love but now we have a growing number of clients who not only want a beautiful outdoor space but are also keen to care for the environment.h
One of those customers is the Vestry House Museum. Cinzia has produced a guide for replanting the gardens as they would have been when the museum was a workhouse. She explains that the residents would have grown their own fruit, vegetables, herbs and dyes as well as making their own compost. (The plan is being implemented by local volunteers. If youfd like to join them, please contact the museum on 020 8509 1917)
